Category Classifications
The primary competitive category. Complete the race or levels by any means necessary, using any gameplay mechanics, skips, or exploits present in the game.
Core Rules:
- Timing Standard: Runs are timed using Real Time Attack (RTA). Timing begins upon character movement and ends when crossing the final finish line.
- Glitches: Allowed. Any mechanical glitch, clip, or velocity exploit is valid.
- Skips: Map shortcuts, wall-clipping skips, and out-of-bound methods are permitted.
Complete the run utilizing glitches, but avoiding major sequence breaks or skips that bypass large portions of the track layout.
Core Rules:
- Skips Restriction: Any jump, clipping, or out-of-bounds trigger that bypasses checkpoints or cuts out more than 20% of a lap is banned.
- Glitches: Physics glitches (such as momentum preservation tricks) are allowed as long as you follow the standard path.
Complete the run by exploiting the game's intended routes and mechanics, prohibiting the use of engine exploits, boundary breaks, or glitches.
Core Rules:
- Prohibited Exploits: Out-of-bounds clipping, grapple-state freezing, and negative velocity loops are strictly banned.
- Intended Routes: Players must stay within the visual boundaries of the racetrack.
- Allowed Mechanics: Grapple swings, sliding boosts, momentum wall-jumping, and standard pickups/power-ups are fully permitted.
Complete all campaign chapters and unlock all available story stars or level challenges in a single continuous session.
Core Rules:
- Completeness: All story levels must be completed on the maximum difficulty setting.
- Glitches: Allowed (unless specified as a sub-category run).
A speedrun through the single-player campaign story levels from a fresh save file to the final boss level.
Core Rules:
- Fresh Save: The run must be executed on a blank profile with no previously unlocked perks or levels active.
Speedrun through specific co-op trial maps with two or more players working in synchronization.
Core Rules:
- Teamplay: Both runners must finish the level. Time is recorded when the last teammate crosses the finish line.
Complete the race without collecting or activating any weapon crates or item boxes.
Core Rules:
- No Items: Picking up items is allowed if unavoidable, but active deployment of any weapon, shield, or grapple-hook boost is strictly forbidden.
Collect and activate/deploy all pickup weapon types at least once during the run while adhering to glitchless rules.
Core Rules:
- Item Diversity: Every single weapon class (Hook, Freeze Ray, Laser, Wave, Crate, Rocket, Bomb) must be activated.
A strict category focusing on complete path navigation and using the full toolset of items during the run without skipping sections of the racetrack.
Core Rules:
- All Items: The runner must pick up and successfully activate/deploy every item type at least once during the run.
- Skipless: Standard map shortcuts are allowed, but skipping major sections of the map via boundary wall-climbs is prohibited.
- Glitchless: Standard physics momentum ONLY. No game crashes or physics glitches.
The ultimate mechanical test. Run without using active speed buffs or boosts, deploying every weapon while running the complete full laps of the course.
Core Rules:
- No Buffs: Active speed boosts, boost pads (where avoidable by pathing), or character passive speed items cannot be triggered. Pure running and grappling physics.
- Item Usage: Collect and utilize all standard projectile weapons and hooks during the course of the race.
- Skipless Standard: Complete full loops of the tracks. Cutting sections of the tracks using grappling exploits is forbidden.
The absolute pinnacle of SpeedRunners execution. Complete a flawless run with zero collision penalties, maximum lap efficiency, skipless tracking, and glitchless mechanics.
Core Rules:
- Perfect Navigation (Flawless): No bumping into walls, falling into spikes, or hitting hazards during the entire run. Any speed penalty resets the attempt.
- Skipless: Complete full designated laps of the standard map layout without skipping check-gates.
- Glitchless: Standard game engine momentum only. No out-of-bounds, wall clips, or grapple freezing.
EGS Speedrun Category Codes & Submission Guidelines
Why this Section?
We created this system to establish global, unambiguous speedrunning classifications (EGS-SRC codes) for all platforms. This standardizes categories, removes indexing confusion, and allows our automated leaderboard system to instantly scan, parse, and verify community records.
How to Submit Your Run
To have your SpeedRunners times validated and added to the official EGS database, submissions must adhere to the following rules:
-
Video Proof: A clean, completely uncut video capture (YouTube video or Live Stream) of the run from start to finish is mandatory. Any cuts, frames dropped, or edits will invalidate the run.
-
Game Category Code: Check the game's specific category code above (e.g.
egs-src-100, egs-src-300).
-
Title & Description Rule: You must mention the code (e.g.,
egs-src-100) in both the title and the description of your YouTube video or live stream.
-
On-Screen Timer: Runs must include a clear, readable timer (such as LiveSplit or the in-game timer).
-
Audio: In-game audio must be audible and not replaced entirely by music or commentary.
Title Formatting Example: SpeedRunners Any% Speedrun - 4:12 [egs-src-100]. Make sure the code egs-src-100 is also copy-pasted in the video description. This enables our automated web-scrapers to find and list your run.
